Shiva Rea, M.A. is a yogini firekeeper, sacred activist, global adventurer and leading innovator in the evolution of prana flow yoga, transformational vinyasa flow integrating the tantric bhakti roots of yoga, Krishnamacharya’s teachings and a universal, quantum approach to the body. Shiva is known for bringing the roots of yoga alive for modern practitioners in creative, dynamic and life-transforming ways and for offering the synthesis form of prana flow out in the world. Jai Uttal
Jai Uttal, a sacred music composer, recording artist, multi-instrumentalist, and ecstatic vocalist, combines influences from India with influences from American rock and jazz, creating a stimulating and exotic multi-cultural fusion that is truly world spirit music. Having traveled extensively in India, where he met many beautiful saints and singers, Bhakti yoga became his personal path. Jai has been leading kirtans around the world for more than 30 years, creating a safe environment for people to open their hearts and voices. Dave Stringer
The Los Angeles Times has declared the experience of chanting with Dave Stringer to be “a departure from ancient kirtan. Stringer’s performance shaped the experience into a far more compelling musical encounter.” Kirtan (pronounced keer-tahn) originated in India, and is currently experiencing a worldwide renaissance as a participatory live music experience. Stringer has been widely profiled as one of the most innovative artists of the new American kirtan movement in publications as diverse as Time, Billboard, Yoga Journal and In Style.
Gaura Vani & As Kindred Spirits
At the age of six Gaura Vani left the US to study sacred music in a gurukula or temple school in the timeless town of Vrindavan, India. He learned ancient prayers in Sanskrit and Bengali and to sing and play ethnic instruments like the harmonium and mrdanga. 25 years later he continues to share the magic he received and performs extensively with his kirtan ensemble, As Kindred Spirits, throughout the world from Europe, Africa and Asia, to the Americas. As Kindred Spirits features the voice and harmonium of Gaura Vani, and the rhythms and melodies of multi-instrumentalist Shyam Kishore, along with a multicultural group of talented musicians, dancers and performers.
Saul David Raye
Saul David Raye is an internationally acclaimed teacher known for his empowering and transformational approach to yoga, healing and spirituality. He began practicing Yoga and Meditation as a teenager and has studied with masters in various spiritual and healing traditions. He spent several years in Asia and India studying and practicing Yoga, Thai massage, Pranic healing and meditation. Saul’s teaching brings alive the holistic nature of Yoga and healing in a way that is simple, powerful and accessible, allowing people to connect more deeply with their own authentic power and spirit. He holds certifications in Yoga, bodywork and energy healing , is an ordained minister and musician who infuses his classes with healing music and chants. He has been on the faculty of numerous national conferences and has been featured in different health publications. He is a student of Paramahamsa Sri Nithyananda Swamigal & Sri Swami Vishwananda and continues his studies under his guidance.
Daphne Tse
Daphne Tse is a soulful singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, Ca. Originally from Texas, she explored music through many venues & was drawn to the west in 1994. Since her initial yoga class, she has explored merging her spiritual practice with her contemporary folk singer songwriter style. She has played for numerous yoga retreats in India, Greece, Guatemala, Costa Rica and now Bali. She studied folk music at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago and kirtan music with Jai Uttal and Daniel Paul in Guatemala and is currently living and working on her full length album in Bali, Indonesia. She has released tracks on yoga music compilations on Sounds True and yoga DVD projects on Acacia with Shiva Rea.
Joshua Greene
The New York Times describes Joshua M. Greene as “a storyteller who traces journeys to enlightenment.” After living for 13 years in ashrams in India and Europe, he returned to New York in 1982 and began a career as a writer and filmmaker. His books on Holocaust testimony have been adapted to film for PBS and the Discovery Channel. He teaches in the religion department of Hofstra University and is a frequent lecturer. Recent venues for his talks have included the Pentagon, Harvard University, and the New York Public Library’s Distinguished Author series. His most recent book, Gita Wisdom, has just been released.
